A gray area
Workplace experts warn that businesses will be in trouble if they don’t hire and train the next wave of good leaders. As companies ease out older workers to replace them with younger workers, institutional knowledge is lost. An AARP survey finds that more than half of companies do not have recruiting or retention programs for older workers. The value of such programs, human resource professionals say, is that older workers are more reliable and committed to the organization than their younger counterparts.
