For blacklisted firms, a chance at redemption
At a time when corporate scandals are growing more common, mutual funds specializing in socially responsible investments are trying to reward firms that make positive changes. For example, Citizen Funds recently approved McDonalds for socially responsible investment after the company improved its track record on environmental issues. Unlike simply blacklisting firms that violate ethical codes of conduct, this gives companies incentive to make changes and improve their reputations.
