The Illinois Housing Development Authority is offering tax credits to companies in order to encourage them to participate in employer-assisted housing programs. These programs generally consist of loans to employees to assist with closing costs and down payments. Workers benefit from affordable housing and shorter commutes to work. Human Resource experts say that these programs can also help boost employee loyalty and retention.
