Governor allots funds for equal pay
Gov. Rod Blagojevich has started a campaign to promote awareness of the Illinois Equal Pay Act, meant to address wage disparities between women and men who do comparable work. Since the law has taken effect last May, relatively few complaints have been filed and many employees are confused about the law?s scope. As part of the awareness campaign the state will require posters to be put in workplaces as well as broadcasting public service announcements and running newspaper advertisements.
