More firms join UN push to be good corporate citizens
Approximately 1,500 firms have signed the United Nations Global Compact, the world's largest corporate citizenship initiative. The compact asks companies to embrace principles promoting corporate social responsibility. Of the compact's nearly 1,700 only 61 are American, but there are some U.S. firms who believe that acting in socially responsible ways will lead to increased long-term profits.
