Hourly workers take hit in wallet
With the Florida hurricanes shutting down workplaces, many hourly workers are taking a financial hit. It is estimated that about 12,300 hurricane-related unemployment claims were made after Hurricane Charley. Some companies have made provisions to help their workers by offering extra shifts or allowing them to cash-in vacation days.
