Support builds for minimum wage hike
The Massachusetts legislature is discussing raising the state?s $6.75 an
hour minimum wage to $7.50 in 2006 and $8.50 in 2007 and, in addition, to
tie future increases to the annual inflation rate. Only three other states
have such an inflation link which supporters contend would help shield
workers from inflation and opponents maintain will cost jobs.
