Symphony strike echoes across US
Members of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra took to the picket line in front of Powell Symphony Hall on Jan. 5. Negotiations between the musicians and management have stalled over contract issues as the orchestra tries to complete its financial recovery. In 2000, the orchestra was the first of several in America to admit to financial troubles and has made progress toward financial health with the cooperation of its musicians. The musicians now want restitution and a pay increase.
