Teachers Warm to Idea of Performance Pay
Several states are reexamining they way they pay teachers and considering some kind of pay-for-performance system. Many teachers unions are reluctant to lose the pay security of the traditional system and feel that performance pay will be too subjective. Some merit pay systems use student test scores to evaluate teacher performance, which may not be the most accurate method.
