In This Corner, a Fighter for Immigrant Laborers
The Workplace Project in Hempstead, NY campaigns for immigrant laborers on Long Island. Their executive director is Nadia Marin-Molina, a lawyer whose organization holds public rallies, news conferences and represents mostly Latino immigrants in lawsuits against contractors. They are strong advocates for better working conditions and fair pay for immigrant day laborers and domestic workers. Long Island has long been known as one of the most segregated suburbs and some residents don?t like Ms. Marin-Molina?s tactics, feeling they are being labeled as racists.
