2 unions feud over Illinois workers
A fight has broken out between the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) over who should represent child-care workers in Illinois. While not technically state employees, the workers care for the children through state grants. SEIU President Andy Stern feels that AFSCME is trying to undercut his union's long-term organizing effort among Illinois' child-care workers.
