Workers Vote to End Strike at Walnut Plant
Following a strike that lasted over thirteen years, workers represented by Teamsters Local 601 have ratified a five year contract at Diamond of California, a walnut processing plant. Six hundred workers walked off the job in September of 1991; most of them have found other jobs and are not expected to return to the plant. According to the union's secretary-treasurer, neither side expected the strike would last this long but now realize they must work together.
