Smith Barney has been accused of sex discrimination against female employees. The female brokers who filed the suit claim that Smith Barney steered a disproportionate number of accounts to male brokers and gave women fewer opportunities to increase their commissions. The lawsuit seeks to represent about 5,000 current and former female employees at the firm.
