Coalition's Strategy Builds on Union Efforts in State
The Los Angeles labor movement, often heralded as a localized beacon of light in an otherwise grey union era, will be used as a strategic model for five dissident unions who are considering leaving the AFL-CIO. The Change to Win coalition, seeking to concentrate almost entirely on organizing new union members, will look to the successes local unions in Los Angeles have had as a guide for the correct way to target employers, politicians, and employees themselves in their organizing drives. It is unclear whether the local success enjoyed by LA unions can work on a national level.
