Some United Attendants Are Rehired
Six hundred United Airlines flight attendants who took voluntary layoffs have been called back by the company, and company executives say 851 more will be invited to return by late fall. Although the Assn. of Flight Attendants welcomed the recall, the union said the action was needed to fill vacancies left by workers who were quitting in response to pay and benefit cuts. The company contends that the call backs were made because more passengers were flying the airline.
