Talks on Transit Contract Begin
In the wake of New York City's contract agreement with its sanitation workers, the city's Transport Workers Union is the next in line to discuss a contract. The union, which represents more than 32,000 New York City subway and bus workers, has called for a substantial raise and stepped-up safety training. The union's three-year contract expires at 12:01 a.m. on Dec. 16. That deal was struck at the last minute after the union threatened to strike.
