East Europeans Crowd Through Britain's Wide-Open Door
With the EU expanding into Eastern Europe last year, countries like Great Britain have become awash with workers from the former Communist satellites, who come seeking higher pay and better working conditions. However, despite fears across Europe that low-cost workers would steal jobs, multicultural Britain has absorbed these workers with hardly a ripple. Unemployment is still low at 4.7 percent, and economic growth continues apace.
