Wal-Mart calls for minimum wage hike
Wal-Mart is now pushing for Congress to adopt a higher minimum wage for the betterment of its 1.3 million workers. CEO Lee Scott argued that, given increasing gas prices and other economic pressures on Wal-Mart customers, Wal-Mart shoppers will further be challenged to "support themselves and their families." Wal-Mart maintains that it pays above the current $5.15 an hour minimum wage to its employees.
