Union Ratifies Deal with Falconbridge
The Canadian Auto Workers have ratified a three-year labor contract to end a four-week strike at Falconbridge Ltd.'s Kidd Creek facility in northern Ontario. Workers started a strike on October 1 after Falconbridge and the CAW failed to reach a contract agreement. Falconbridge had offered wage increases and a signing bonus. But the CAW had rejected the offer, saying it was less than the previous three-year deal signed in 2002.
