Northwest Union in Tentative Labor Deal
Pilots at Northwest Airlines have agreed to a tentative contract that calls for a pay reduction of 24 percent. Northwest, which is restructuring in bankruptcy, has said it needs a total of $1.4 billion in annual labor savings to survive. The carrier has asked for court permission to cancel the labor contract of any employee group that has not agreed to the concessions it says are required.
