Zimbabwe union activists detained
At least eighty Zimbabwean trade union protesters have been detained by riot police, including the leader of the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions. ZCTU spokesman Thabitha Khumalo said as many as 200 workers were arrested in Harare while marching to present demands to minister of labor. The union, which represents 30 worker organisations with a million members, says that life for the worker had never been poorer, with mass unemployment and inflation currently at nearly 360%.
