German Union, State Reach Agreement
Labor negotiators in the Hamburg region have reached an agreement to resolve a dispute over public employees' working hours that has triggered weeks of strikes, German union and state officials said today. The dispute centers on plans by state governments to make some employees work 40 hours a week, compared with 38.5 hours at present, without extra pay.
