Strike leaves riders fending for selves
As Denver transit workers went on strike Monday, commuters found it difficult to get to work in their usual ways. The Regional Transportation District operated a severely curtailed local bus schedule using private contractors, but all light-rail service and long-distance bus service were idled. Some private parking lots began charging $50 per space for commuters.
