Immigration Rallies Fuel Resolve of Port Truckers
Participating in Monday's immigration marches has strengthened the resolve of some of Southern California's truck drivers to band together and seek better pay and more reasonable working hours. While the truckers are a historically fragmented coterie, and prevented by their independent contractor status from engaging in collective bargaining, several groups are looking for ways to transcend those restrictions and leverage their potentially tremendous economic clout.
