More Than 1,500 Workers Walk Out, but L.A. Copes
The prognostications of both the City of Los Angeles and Engineers and Architects Association proved inaccurate as more that 1,500 of the city's employees went on strike on Tuesday. The strike effected several construction projects, work at the Port of Los Angeles, and other municipal services, falling short of the massive impact predicted by the union, but also belying the city's prediction that the strike would have no effect on public services. The strike is planned to continue for two days, and may be extended further by union leaders.
