Job Openings in U.S. Unexpectedly Rose in May to a Record
May 2015 surpassed expectations with the highest number of job openings on record, with 5.36 million open positions recorded by the Labor Department’s Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey. May’s job openings indicates improvement in the labor market according to Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen. May’s unemployment rate also made a record, with a 7-year low of 5.3% from an earlier Labor Department report.
