Accused of Labor Trafficking, Oil-Rig Repairer Files for Bankruptcy
Marine-services company Signal International LLC faces a $20 million settlement for Indian workers it recruited under the H-2B program to repair oil rigs damaged by Hurricane Katrina. The workers allegedly had to pay to live in crammed housing with inadequate food. Signal filed for bankruptcy on July 12th to help implement the settlement.
