Bills seek more stable hours for low-paid workers
MA Senator Elizabeth Warren is cosponsoring a bill that was reintroduced last week that would require employers to stabilize work schedules. The bill, similar to 10 other state bills, has a long way to go but could help the 17% of people with unstable work schedules. The proposed bills would regulate employers who use “just-in-time” schedules that give little advanced notice to low-wage employees. These bills would likely only affect fast-food and large retail companies.
