First Great Western rail strike to go ahead after latest talks fail
Starting this Saturday, European employees of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union plan to go on strike for three days. Their employer, First Great Western, is in the process of developing new Hitachi high-speed trains. The employees have planned a strike because they feel that these new trains will lead to job cuts and changes in on-board catering. This will be the third strike this year that employees have held over this issue.
