As His Term Wanes, Obama Champions Workers’ Rights
As Obama reaches the end of his time in the White House, he has begun to introduce new policies that are meant to offer more protection to American workers. Home care workers are now eligible under the overtime and minimum wage policies. In addition, last week the National Labor Relations Board passed new legislation that will allow employees of franchises to bargain directly with the parent company. Yet, he has still been unable to raise the federal minimum wage as a result of the backlash from a Republican-controlled Congress.
