Seattle Schools to Be Closed Again on Monday in Teachers Strike
In Seattle, schools will be closed for the fourth day on Monday as a result of the teachers' strike. Approximately 5,000 teachers and support staff went on strike last week when contract negotiations reached an impasse. One teacher participating in the strike claims she has not received a cost-of-living wage increase in over six years. Wages are a strong concern for the teachers because the cost of living in Seattle has increased dramatically as a result of the growing technology sector.
