In Pacific Trade Deal, Vietnam Agrees to U.S. Terms on Labor Rights
Today, a portion of text was released from the Pacific trade agreement that gives the United States the right to set labor laws within Vietnam, such as allowing workers the right to unionize and strike. In exchange, trade will be expanded between the two countries. The trade agreement will lead to the end of trade barriers and tariffs between many countries. Obama issued a statement this morning emphasizing that the agreement will set high labor standards and benefit Americans.
