State Board Rules Against Chicago Teachers Union Effort to Get Back Pay for Teachers
On Thursday, the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board ruled that it would not intervene while the Chicago Teachers Union are in negotiations with representatives from the Chicago Public Schools (CPS). The two sides are fighting to determine whether the teachers should have received pay increases outlined in a previous contract during the time that negotiations were underway for a new contract. If it is decided that the teachers should have been granted these pay increases, CPS could owe as much as $26 million in wages.
