Disney World Sued for Allegedly Failing to Pay Restaurant Servers Minimum Wage
A server who was a former employee at one of Disney's theme park restaurants recently filed a lawsuit against the company claiming that she was instructed to perform tasks that were non-tip related and often was not paid adequately as a result. Since she was considered a tipped worker, under law she was paid a smaller minimum wage of $5.03 an hour versus $8.05. Under this law, it also says that employees who spend more than 20% of their time performing non-tipped work must be paid the higher wage. The plaintiff is asking for $15,000 in owed wages.
