Iceland's women leave work at 2.38pm to protest gender pay gap
In protest against the gender pay gap, women in Iceland walked off their jobs at 2:38pm today. The choice of time is significant, as it represents the fact that women in Iceland are essentially working without pay after 2:38pm -- because they earn 14-18% less than their male counterparts. Despite being one of the highest-ranking nations in terms of gender equality, according to current trends it will take 52 years for women to reach 100% equality.
