McDonald’s Settles Labor Lawsuit with U.S. Franchise Workers for the First Time Ever
McDonald’s has settled on a $3.75 million lawsuit that claimed the corporation was liable for labor law violations that occurred in a California franchise of the restaurant. The settlement will later be approved by a federal judge. This is the first time the company has settled a class action case brought by U.S. franchise employees. McDonald’s is currently facing legal questions regarding the status of the corporation as a joint employer of workers at franchises across the country. Last year, a judge ruled that the corporation was not a joint employer, but the issue is being reconsidered in a current trial by the NLRB.
