Women across France will leave work at 4:34 p.m. today. Here’s why.
Many women across France will leave work today at 4:34 p.m. in protest against gender inequality. The decision to leave at exactly 4:34 p.m. was derived from the fact that 85% of the work year has ended, and the remaining 15% represents approximately 38 days that women go "unpaid" due to the gender pay gap. The movement was inspired by a similar protest in Iceland, where women left work at 2:38 p.m. on October 24th. The movement is supported by many women in France's government.
