Bus drivers union files unfair labor practice complaint
A Montana bus driver’s union has filed an Unfair Labor Practice charge against First Student, the local school bus company. After bus routes were suspended at the beginning of the semester because there were not enough bus drivers, First Student brought in workers from outside Montana, and offered an increased salary. The union was not consulted on the new hirings or pay raises. The company raised the starting wage from $12.25 an hour to $16 an hour, a rate which the union had previously rejected as unfair to the more senior drivers.
