Lufthansa cancels 876 flights on Wednesday due to pilots’ strike
As a result of a 24-hour strike by Lufthansa pilots, the airline has had to cancel 876 of their planned 3,000 flights for Wednesday. Lufthansa’s request for a temporary injunction was denied, but the airline has stated it intends to appeal the decision, a process which could last until late Tuesday night. The airline has been involved in lengthy pay negotiations with the pilots’ union. The union, which refuses to consult a mediator, is requesting a 3.7 percent wage increase while Lufthansa is only offering a 2.5 percent increase at this time.
