The scene at JFK as taxi drivers strike following Trump's immigration ban
In response to President Trump's executive order, which bans travelers from seven predominantly Muslim countries from entering the country, New York City's Yellow Taxi drivers held a one hour strike at John F. Kennedy International Airport on Saturday. Trump's order also suspends refugees from entering the country. The taxi drivers, who are represented by the New York Taxi Workers Alliance, refused to pick up passengers at JFK from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.. The city's AirTrain, which transports travelers from Port Authority to JFK, was also shut down, but then reopened by Governor Cuomo. Uber responded by turning off its surge pricing for the airport. Approximately 12 travelers were detained at JFK this weekend because of the ban.
