Argentina says labor strike threats driven by elections
Tens of thousands of Argentinian workers went on strike on March 7 in Buenos Aires to protest job cuts and wages that have not increased with inflation last measured at 40 percent. For the past 15 months, up until the strike, workers had supportive of new President Macri's plan to cut labor costs, interest rates, and the fiscal deficit. Macri is up for re-election in October, which could reveal why workers are voicing their concerns over labor reforms now.
