Disney Is Going to Pay $3.8 Million to Employees Who Were Charged for Their Costumes
The Department of Labor announced that Walt Disney Co. violated wage laws by charging over 16,339 workers for their costumes. Once workers' paychecks were deducted for the costumes, their hourly pay fell below the federal minimum wage. Walt Disney also violated overtime and record-keeping laws. The company is expected to pay the affected employees $3.8 million in backpay.
