AT&T Workers Blast Outsourcing of Jobs to Dominican Republic
AT&T workers are implementing tactics Verizon used last year to improve their contracts. The workers, organized under the CWA, met with call-center employees in the Dominican Republic, where the phone company’s jobs have been outsourced. Last year, after striking Verizon workers met with call center employees in the Philippines, Verizon agreed to higher pay and increased job security. AT&T is currently involved in negotiations to renew contracts for 21,000 wireless workers and 17,000 phone and Internet workers.
