Unions sue to stop Kentucky’s ‘right-to-work’ law
Kentucky’s AFL-CIO and Teamsters Local 89 filed a lawsuit in challenge of Kentucky’s recently approved right-to-work law. The two labor unions claim that the legislation goes against the state’s equal protection clause present in its constitution. They are therefore asking the court to declare the right-to-work law unconstitutional. Other states, like West Virginia, have already ruled that right-to-work laws are invalid for this reason. Those in favor of the legislation claim that it will bring businesses to the state and increase economic growth.
