DOLE lifts ban on Filipino workers deployment to Qatar
After an assessment of the situation in Qatar, the Department of Labor and Employment completely lifted the ban on deploying Filipino workers in the gulf state. The suspension was originally issued on June 6, when Saudi Arabia and several other Middle Eastern nations cut diplomatic ties with Qatar for its alleged support of terrorism. After backlash from overseas Filipino workers the following day, the ban was retracted to only cover workers with pending applications. The governments of Qatar and the Philippines have stated that they will continue to ensure the safety of Filipino workers overseas during this diplomatic predicament.
