Labor unions support Arizona teachers' walkout, vow to delay some jobs at schools
Union members from across the state rallied in solidarity alongside Arizona teachers at the state capitol on Thursday. Some have promised not to complete or begin jobs at public schools until the dispute is resolved. Israel Torres, a spokesperson for UA Local 469, told the press that they will not go to work at schools where teachers have walked out. The union represents some 3,000 plumbers and pipe fitters in Arizona. Members of Local 99 of the United Food & Commercial Workers have made similar vows. Other workers affiliated with the AFL-CIO handed out water bottles and held up signs to show their support.
