German trade unions strictly against basic income concept
The debate over implementing an unconditional basic income is gaining more attention from German policymakers and social scientists. A UBI would grant all citizens a fixed sum of money every month, regardless of whether they are working or not. With increasing public fear of widespread job loss due to digitization and robotic production, many Germans see UBI as a potential solution to high unemployment. However, trade union leaders said on Monday that implementing a UBI is not a reasonable solution, calling the policy a “standstill reward”.
