Massive UC workers' strike disrupts dining, classes and medical services
The system-wide University of California AFSCME strike has been drawing an increasing amount of attention. Senator Kamala Harris cancelled her speaking engagement this weekend at UC Berkley’s 2018 commencement to stand in solidarity with the workers. More than 12,000 surgeries, cancer treatments and appointments have also been canceled. At least two physical altercations have occurred in conjunction with rallies, including a man who reportedly drove his car into a crowd of protesters on Monday. All ten campuses have remained open, although some classes have been canceled and dining services scaled back.
