Union ends 11-day strike without contract with Coca-Cola
After eleven days, a strike involving 250 Teamsters ended with no immediate resolution at Coca-Cola Bottling Company plants in Alabama and Mississippi. Local 991 leaders issued a statement on Monday saying its members will return to work this week. The two sides were in talks for weeks with little progress. A mediator is continuing to work with both sides to negotiate a new contract. Employee David Stephens said that while he feels that he and his co-workers needed to go back to work, the walkout made a difference and that a contract seemed likely soon.
