Working Families Party?s Aim: Putting Democrats in Congress
Even by the standards of minor political parties, the Working Families Party has typically played the part of feisty underdog. Only four states list the party on their ballots, and even in New York, where it is based and most active, Working Families usually draws far fewer voters than rivals like the Conservative Party or the Independence Party. Nevertheless, leaders of the Working Families Party, hoping to play a small but crucial role in this fall?s Congressional elections, have started an effort to swing unaffiliated voters to Democratic candidates in three tight Congressional races.
